Which style mavericks deserve to advance to the next round in this year’s bracket? Tell us right now in Round 1.
Our Most Stylish Man Showdown is that time of year when we pit 64 streetwear masters and suited men, world leaders and world champions, traditionalists and ultimate swerve-rs against each other in a head-to-head heat to see who will rise above the rest and be crowned 2016’s Most Stylish Man. There’s only one way that’s going to happen: your votes. Every day at Noon, a new round of voting will begin (be sure to check back daily to control the fate of your style god).
David Beckham vs. Brooklyn Beckham
It may seem unfair to put father and son head-to-head, but it’s not our fault there’s so much style oozing out of one family tree. Could Cool Teen™ cum photographer Brooklyn knock his style legend father, and GQ cover man, out in round one? Maybe. Whoever comes out on top, it’s still a win for the Beckham house wardrobe, a collection of top-notch menswear that the father and son shared on more than one occasion this year.
Pep Guardiola vs. Dev Patel
Athletes are the new style all-stars, with big name players dressing like models that just exited a runway. Rarely does a coach catch our attention but soccer legend Pep Guardiola is the exception to the rule. More often than not, the Manchester City manager looks like a well-dressed street style star in streamlined topcoats and suits in dark neutrals—and the occasional swervy shoe. Patel, on the other hand, has grown up, way up since his Slumdog Millionaire day. This year, the Lion actor has been demonstrating a mastery of understated, relaxed tailoring, and a commitment to low-key grooming that just works.
Tom Hiddleston vs. Tom Hardy
It’s the matchup between Britain’s two most famous Toms, both of whom know how to wear the s#!t out of some proper tailoring. Hiddleston has never met a suit he didn’t like, consistently showing up to premieres and press junkets in some of the sharpest cut lapels on planet Earth. Hardy is more of a wild card, vacillating between dapper peacock and indifferent rebel. There’s only one way your favorite Tom wins this round: vote now and vote often.
Jeff Goldblum vs. Leon Bridges
The two arbiters of nouveau retro, an aesthetic that has its roots in 1950s and ’60s menswear, but looks entirely modern today. Bridges brought it to 2016 with an arsenal of classic suits in a rainbow of uncommon colors. Goldblum, a walking Saint Laurent billboard if there ever was one, brings some ]greaser-level swagger](http://www.gq.com/gallery/jeff-goldblum-style-independence-day-2#1) to his wardrobe with leather jackets, two-toned loafers, and skinny trousers by the in-demand French brand. Both guys are certainly groovy, but who’s groovier?
Rami Malek vs. Evan Spiegel
One plays a world class hacker, the other is an actual tech juggernaut, and both are masters of minimalist menswear. Malek won an Emmy, landed a GQ spread, and showed up everywhere looking nothing less than on point. The Mr. Robot actor nails can wear a tux with the best of them, makes broken-up suits look fresh and fears no color, or graphic print. Meanwhile Spiegel continues to be faithful to monochromatic kits, and a low-key menswear basics like black jeans, bomber jackets, his trusty Common Projects, and James Perse T-shirts. (And if it sounds a little underwhelming, remember that Miranda Kerr liked it enough to say yes when he proposed.)
A$AP Rocky vs. Chance the Rapper
Rocky is the rare creature who can pull off bonkers outfits in real life. The rapper wears head-to-toe Gucci the way we wear a t-shirt and jeans or can pull off track pants at fancy restaurants and still be one of the best-dressed guys in the room. Chance takes a subtler approach to getting dressed (if you consider adult overalls low-key), favoring everyman fits and the one accessory he’s become synonymous with, those “3” hats. So which talented guy got it right more times in 2016?
Justin Theroux vs. John Legend
Theroux is your archetypical bad boy, in skinny jeans, more leather jackets than we can count, shit-kicker boots, and epic T-shirts. Legend is one Givenchy’d-out half of our favorite power couple, who turns black jeans and tees into red carpet-ready rigs with a killer outerwear collection and gives dad style a very good name. It’s a throwdown between two of N.Y.C.’s most stylish dwellers and only one can advance to the next round…
Wiz Khalifa vs. Kit Harington
Wiz Khalifa cemented himself as a style chameleon in 2016. One day he’s swearing by roguish half-buttoned, oversized shirts and the next he’s sporting corner office classic tailoring. Harington’s style doesn’t scream out for attention in the same way but the GoT actor has one accessory no one else can claim: that epic head of hair. This is a choice that comes down to deciding who made the most out of every outfit opportunity this year.
